Bird’s eye view

As if a bird were looking at the sky. Why a bird? Because of the owner’s strong connection with the world of pigeons. In fact, the entire garden was designed based on the profile and defining features of a pigeon: the eyes, the beak, and the wings with their feathers.

This 1,700 m² space is surrounded by the Cingles de Bertí cliffs. These cliffs and the stunning views were the most influential elements in shaping the project. However, other factors, such as sustainability and the intention to minimize water use in low-traffic areas, also played a major role in the selection of plant species. The project is divided into two clearly defined zones: the entrance to the property to the southwest, and the main garden to the northeast. The house, located at the center, acts as a connector between both spaces.

Rock gardens built with stone from the estate form retaining walls and merge with clusters of plants that simulate feathers through a blend of grey, green, metallic blue, and white tones. These rock gardens shape the first part of the garden.

In the second part, a path made of flagstones and bricks, traditional materials of Catalan farmhouses, leads us to the edge of the cliff, offering a view that stretches into infinity. Here, green becomes the central theme.

The peaceful palette and the flowering beds invite rest and a deeper connection with nature.

Project submitted to the 4th Landscape Biennial of the COAC.
